Here you can find out how you can make your own plastic-free school cone or buy plastic-free ones and how you can fill the school cone sustainably. Have fun reading!
Make school cone without plastic
You can easily make your own plastic-free school bags. Here I show you different ways how you can make a school bag without plastic without much effort.
Plastic free school bag from cardboard and wrapping paper
The simplest option is to use cardboard and wrapping paper. For this you do not need any craft skills. Maybe you even have a roll of wrapping paper left at home.
You get some cardboard, a cord, a pencil and scissors. Attach the pencil with a cord and then draw a circle. You will need about a quarter circle to make the school bag without plastic. Then cut out the quarter circle and shape it into the school cone. Make sure that there is no hole at the bottom of the plastic-free school bag. You can use a liquid glue for gluing. Clothespins provide the right hold while the glue dries. Then you can cover the school bag with wrapping paper.
Alternatively, you can simply use a School cone blank* use.
Plastic free school bag with paper
As an alternative to wrapping paper, you can also use other materials to create a plastic-free school cone. For example, you can use crepe paper or felt to make a sleeve for the plastic-free sugar cone. From paper you can cut out many beautiful shapes, which you can also attach to the school bag.
Sew plastic free school bag
A slightly more elaborate option is to sew the plastic-free school bag for your child yourself.
For this you need:
- School cone blank*
- Wrapping paper or similar as a pattern
- Fabric
Here's how you do it:
The very first thing you need is a school cone blank, which you can buy at a craft store.
Mark a spot on the school bag that will serve as your guide. Mark it on the wrapping paper as well. It will serve as the top corner of the pattern. Now mark the tip of the blank on the wrapping paper. Make sure that the tip does not slip.
Now rotate the school bag around its own axis while the tip remains in the same place. Meanwhile, you trace the movements. The whole thing should create a semicircular arc on the wrapping paper.
Now draw a line from each end of the arc to the tip. A triangle should now be formed. Cut it out. It serves as a pattern.
Test the pattern and hold it to the school bag. Correct the pattern if necessary. If you want to use more than one fabric for the plastic-free school cone, you need to divide the pattern.
Follow the pattern when cutting the fabric. Be sure to remember the seam allowance.
Turn the two fabrics right side out and sew them together. Iron the fabric before turning it right side out. If you have several pieces of fabric, sew them together as well.
Now you can decorate the school bag. For example, you can sew the name of the child on the school bag. There are no limits to your creativity.
If you have done everything correctly, the school bag should fit snugly and tightly. If some parts are still too wide, mark them and sew them closer together.
Now it's time to close the school bag so that the plastic-free school bag can also be closed. Measure the top edge of the school bag. This is the length of the closure. Keep the seam allowance in mind here as well. The width is a matter of personal taste. A width of about 30 centimeters will suffice in most cases.
Place the fabric right sides together and sew the side seam first.
Press the top edge and then sew along the top edge several times.
Now cover the school bag with the clasp while both are right sides together. Now stitch the closure together with the school bag. Turn the school bag right side out again. Done!

What you need:
- 300 Gram Rye flour
- 100 gram margarine
- 130 gram sugar
- A packet of vanilla sugar
- One banana
- One tablespoon baking powder
And it's that simple:
Mix the margarine, sugar and vanilla sugar together. Peel the banana and cut it into small pieces. Then add it and mix again. Now you can add the baking powder and the rye flour. Now knead the dough and finally form it into a ball. The dough comes in a Beeswax cloth or similar wrapped in the refrigerator. Leave it there for about 2 hours. After that, you can take out the dough and form letters from it. You can also decorate it as you like, for example with icing or melted chocolate.

Hello Tabea,
I've been following your blog for a while now and I've noticed that you have a lot of affiliate links to Amazon. I don't think I need to tell you anything about the sustainability of Amazon orders. My question: How does that fit together? So to make purchase recommendations for Amazon in a sustainability blog. This is a serious question and I would be happy to be enlightened 🙂
Best regards
Florian
Hello Florian,
At FAQ Christoph has already answered the question. The whole project is financed with the affiliate links. We also have other affiliate partners, which we prefer, but many things are only sold via Amazon. However, we are currently working on our own online store, where you will be able to order directly from the CareElite plastic-free store 🙂
Love greetings

Unfortunately, the block came a few days too late, since school enrollment was already on 25.8. in Berlin. But I still took up the challenge. In the school bag of my son (self-designed blank cardboard) were
* Hussel sweets in a pretty little jar. (Ikea also has this on offer, but there makes me ncihts on).
* EcoBrotbox
* GoodMorningGoodMoodTea
* Cloth handkerchiefs
* Crayons
* Wax crayons from beeswax
* Wooden brushes and uncoated pencils
* Plaster for small accidents in/on the way to school.
* DB-PixiBook from cardboard (Bahnfreak)
GANZ without I came then but nciht, because I have also put in a high-visibility vest, and letter noodles.
I have already heard from some
