You want to know the reasons why some people follow the Veganism turn your back? Then you've come to the right place! Whether in the world of celebrities or in your own environment, you often hear and read about people who are no longer vegan.
They take the step back, become vegetarians or meat eaters - and once again consume animal-based foods that they actually wanted to give up permanently. But what exactly are the usual motives for this? And are they logical?
In this article, I would like to provide you with the answer to this question. I'll also show you why people who stop being vegan were never really vegan in the first place. Let's go!
6 common reasons to "not be vegan" anymore
The Number of vegans in Germany is increasing rapidly. The number has doubled during the coronavirus crisis alone. There are now around 3 percent of all Germans are vegan - some of them "on trial" - for example at the Veganuary.
As with all major changes in life, it is also in this case not surprisingthat every now and then people give up their plans and stop being vegan. In the following, I will name, explain and examine the most common reasons for this.
1. nutrient deficiency
Many a person quits veganism because, after a trial period of a plant-only diet. Symptoms a nutrient deficiency (e.g. headaches, discomfort, pimples or in the case of Miley Cyrus concentration problems) recognized.
Naturally these can also have another cause. And in the end, many people who switch don't even know whether they really had a nutrient deficiency. Nevertheless, the people with whom they share this experience believe it.
Fact is: With a balanced vegetable diet are according to American Dietetic Association (the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals), nutrient deficiencies should not be expected at any stage of life - including pregnancy.
Tip: Go for regular blood tests (Do a nutrient check online here*) to prevent defects. I can only strongly advise you to do this. Also to find out where the symptoms are coming from. You can also find out more at Food supplements for vegans about the so-called potentially critical nutrients. (Vitamin B12 is available here* and Vitamin D here*)
2. other interests
For many the Veganism only a trend, that quickly fades away. Celebrities in particular like to take the opportunity to show the world via social media that they are now vegan. After all, this shows compassion, makes them likeable and puts them in the spotlight.
Not being vegan any more then creates some time later still another reason for headlinesthat encourage other people to consume animal products again.
Fact is: Veganism has been around since 1944, when the Vegan Society was founded. The number of vegans around the world is growing steadily and rapidly. It is not a trend, but a Movement against the exploitation of animals and cruelty to animals - a fundamental attitude that almost everyone in the world shares.
Tip: Take a look Documentaries about factory farming and veganism and you will better understand what being vegan is really about. I was inspired by the Dominion film that you still use today watch for free on YouTube simply by following your heart.
3. convenience

"No longer vegan" are often those who are only superficially concerned with the reasons for and practical implementation of the diet and lifestyle have
As a result, many then simply too strenuous, check the list of ingredients for each food and ask for vegan alternatives in the restaurant.
The vegan substitutes are not enough. And maybe they just don't feel comfortable because they don't feel too one-sided plant-based diet have
Fact is: The benefits of a plant-based diet only really come to light when you really get to grips with it. If you do, you will quickly realize how varied and colourful vegan cuisine actually is. Burgers, pasta, pizza - you can still eat it all. And after a short time, you'll get into the groove! 🙂
It also helps immensely to to put themselves in the position of the animalswho have to suffer for their own diet. Then it quickly becomes clear for whom it will actually be uncomfortable.
Tip: I can absolutely recommend the Book Vegan & Easy by Bianca Zapatka* with simple and delicious recipes. And if you like, you can also make the switch with the Online course "Going vegan made easy" by isshappy* easier.
4. own environment
When people switch back to vegetarianism or a mixed diet, this is often also a Consequence of the lack of support in one's own environment.
If you are constantly in discussions with colleagues, friends or your own parents and often have to justify yourself, the path to no longer being vegan is usually also the path of least resistance.
Fact is: If you work intensively with the Reasons for veganism employed (Animal suffering, environmental destruction, health hazards) and it "clicks", the decision to live vegan is like a massive fortress. From there you can rather Convince meat eaters:insidethan actually going back to consuming animal foods yourself. It also helps to become vegan together with others and to exchange ideas in Facebook groups.
Notice: Often you hear that vegetarian yet is enoughto change something. And the diet does have an effect, that's true. Nevertheless, we continue to pay money for animal products such as milk, cheese and eggs, for which animals are tortured and exploited.
5. perfectionism
I used to be one of those people who wanted to do everything perfectly. This has meant that new things and Changes difficult are. For many people, this perfectionism is also a decisive reason for no longer being vegan.
"I alone can't change anything anyway" and "Animals will continue to be tortured even if I stop eating them" are typical slogans. In addition, there are the daily discussions with meat eaters, which push many people to the edge of Resignation and lead people to believe that all this is just a drop in the ocean.
Fact is: Nothing has to be perfect if we develop in the right direction every day, both personally and as a society as a whole. And that is the case. There are more and more vegan restaurants, vegan YouTubers and vegan recipes.
Not a day goes by without the newspapers and television talking about animal rights and a plant-based diet. Every vegan and every single plant-based meal contributes to this. The decision to go "pro-vegan" and do nothing more for the animals, because this injustice will not stop overnight, is definitely a step in the wrong direction.
6. ravenous appetite
Many of the foods we have become accustomed to for years or decades are of animal origin. Whether Meat, cheese, yogurt, eggs, honey or milkEating these admittedly delicious foods has led to cravings. The cravings are sometimes stronger than the personal attitude and motivation. And so it happens that many vegans suddenly start consuming animal foods again.
Fact is: There is now at least one equally delicious plant-based alternative for every food! From Saitan steaks, about Burger patties made from pea protein or buckwheat up to Oat, soy, rice and almond milk. (you can find everything here*)
And most of the substitute products also taste really good and make the "renunciation" much more bearable. Use these products from time to time to prevent sudden cravings.
Who is no longer vegan, was actually never vegan

We have now talked about the reasons why people "give up" being vegan. But in my honest opinion, they were never vegan, they just ate a plant-based diet. The However, veganism is more than just a diet.
It is by definition a A way of life that tries - as far as practicable - to avoid all forms of exploitation and cruelty to animals for food, clothing, experiments and tricks.
You don't simply turn your back on such an attitude. These are Deepest, inner values and moralsthat counteract injustice. I am against slavery and racism - and I won't just stop there.
I became a vegetarian because I wanted to live a healthier and more environmentally friendly life. To the Vegan I then became a short time later for the animals. For example, because Dairy industry considered even more brutalthan the meat industry. It is primarily about ethics - environmental protection, the promotion of one's own health and the Fight against world hunger are additional motivators. The focus is on the well-being of all living beings - and not exclusively on our own well-being.
Ethical-motivated veganism is here to stay
Of course you can stop eating a vegan diet. But those who, for deeply ethical reasons vegan liveswill not stop being vegan. Because the latter is not a diet, but a way of life. A Life form against cruelty to animals and the exploitation of innocent, sentient beings.
Moral values that most people would probably subscribe to directly. They are our habitsthat sometimes lead us off the right path.
"Animals are my friends and I don't eat my friends."
